About us

In August 2017, we (Mats & Elianne) founded DANSLAB Noord. The establishment of the studio came after we took over “Jazz Ballet Studio Carmen,” a dance school that had been a part of Amsterdam Noord for over 25 years. After gaining extensive experience as freelance dancers and dance instructors for various clients, we felt it would be an exciting challenge to run our own dance school. And so, the adventure began.

Our goal is to introduce as many people as possible to our greatest passion: dance. Whether you are a beginner or already more advanced, at DANSLAB Noord, everyone will feel welcome, challenged, and inspired.

We aim to achieve this by offering a wide range of dance styles for almost all ages. Ensuring high-quality lessons is of great importance to us. Every class is carefully structured, didactically sound, and we provide individual attention to each dancer through both positive and constructive feedback.

We do all of this together with a fantastic team of qualified dance instructors and helpful front desk staff.

With a lot of energy and enthusiasm, we look forward to the future!

Mats

Mats graduated in 2012 from Lucia Marthas The Institute for Performing Arts in Amsterdam, specializing in both performing dance and dance teaching. He has performed in various musicals, including Legally Blonde and The Producers, and has danced for national and international artists such as Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Alain Clark, Trijntje Oosterhuis, and Candy Dulfer.

“Becoming better at dancing requires a lot of focus and perseverance. At many schools, the ‘fun aspect’ of a dance class is often overlooked as a result. My goal is to work on improving technique, musicality, and coordination in every class, but always accompanied by a high dose of fun.”
